SSCHAIR is run by a small, dedicated team of support workers offering confidential support to people who have been affected by sexual abuse. All our support methods are delivered in the strictest confidence. Here is an overview of some of the work we do:
SSCHAIR has a one to one support worker who can offer support with a large variety of practical and emotional needs. Talking to others about your own experiences is a very important step in dealing with the issues that continue to affect survivors of sexual abuse. Our one to one support worker has helped many others to open up about their experiences and begin the healing process. If you would like to arrange a one to one session please contact us.
We run a weekly drop in session from our premises at 8 Commercial Street (directions). These sessions are run by experienced and professional facilitators and are in the format of a group workshop where anyone can join us to share their journey with others. This is an informal get together, and the door is always open for anyone wishing to attend.
The weekly drop in sessions are on Tuesday evenings from 6pm - 8pm and Thursday mornings from 10am - 1pm.
It's important to remember that it's not just the victim that needs help. Sometimes those closest to them, including friends and family need some help to understand what their loved one is going through and how best to help. SSCHAIR can offer support to partners of survivors, family members or other relevant people in the survivor's lives and also offer support to the parents of children who are under the age of 18 and have been sexually abused.
