SSCHAIR has been supporting survivors of child hood sexual abuse in Shetland for over 20 years. We couldn't continue without the dedicated and selfless efforts of all our support workers, supporters and fundraisers.
In 2016 our organisation secured funding from the Survivor Scotland Innovation and development fund, which allowed us to expand from weekly facilitated sessions only, to having a paid support worker and coordinator post. The expanded service was designed around survivors needs which included identifying service gaps and making opening times compliment others services. The funding enabled SSCHAIR to secure the use of premises to operate the newly expanded service from. In 2017 SSCHAIR secured funding from The Big Lottery, The Robertson Trust, Survivor Scotland and Tesco which has increased the number of available support worker hours from 25 to 35. It also enabled the coordinator post to continue and provided funding of alternative therapies for survivors.
